  • Calabash Fire Department reports July 2014

    During the month of July, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 143 calls: 11 structure fires, one woods/brush fire, three fire alarms, eight motor vehicle accidents, 12 public assistance calls, two mutual aid calls, two other and 104 EMS first response calls.

    Seth Jones Perkinson III, 49, of 2701 Lemon Tree Lane, Charlotte, charged with DWI and driving left of center.

    Warrant issued for failure to appear for Kayla Renee Loftis, 23, of 430 Sunset Blvd., Unit 210, Sunset Beach.

    The Leland Police Department is investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and larcenies that occurred on July 16 in the Brunswick Forest development.

    Two of the break-ins and larcenies happened in the Brunswick Forest development on Lillibridge Drive and the two more occurred on Foxbow Cove.

  • House fire extinguished on Sunset Beach island

    Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out inside a house last week on the Sunset Beach island.

    Sunset Beach Deputy Fire Chief Richard Childres said the fire, reported at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at an unoccupied house at 410 29th St., is believed to have been the result of a wiring or mechanical issue.

    Fire damages were confined mostly to the kitchen, with smoke damage throughout the structure.
